UK accident and emergency medicine: Merger -

Information for members of our organisations

British Association for Emergency Medicine

and College of Emergency Medicine

The British Association for Emergency Medicine and The College of Emergency Medicine are set to merge to form one organisation - the College of Emergency Medicine in January 2008.

We are applying for a Royal Charter to become a College incorporated by Royal Charter, and the Merger Board, made up of officers of both organisations as well as trainees and Fassgem Representatives are overseeing this work. Updates on progress are posted below from time to time.   The latest "Project Update July 2024"  is available for viewing.

Fund raising to purchase an equity share of Churchill House has now stopped. The College of Emergency Medicine is renting the accommodation from the RCoA and has a full and equal share in the educational facilities under the current arrangements. However some original donators have requested that we continue to hold their contributions and we have transferred their money to the CEM Foundation Fund. The aim of this fund is to build capital which will allow the college to purchase a property in the future. A Roll Of Donors who have contributed to this fund can be viewed Churchill House - Home - List of Donors @ April 2024

If you would like to donate to the CEM Foundation Fund, please complete the donation form Churchill House - Home - Donation Form and send with a cheque or if you wish to pay over a period of time, please complete the Standing Order form Churchill House - Home - Standing Order Mandate and return both documents to:

Mrs P Bollen,

CEM, Churchill House,

35 Red Lion Square, London,

WC1R 4SG

Please note that if you are a UK Tax payer we could enhance your donation by claiming 28p for every 1 you donate from the Inland Revenue. This does not affect or cost you anything and in fact if you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your self assessment tax form.
